Exploring Gross National Happiness with Bhutanese Leader, Dr Saamdu Chetri
Event Information
Description
Bhutan may be a small country but they have a huge vision.
In 1972, the 4th King of Bhutan, King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, declared “Gross National Happiness (GNH) is more important than Gross Domestic Product.”
Whilst other countries struggle to embed values into capitalism, Bhutan are putting wellbeing at the center of it all.
The human heart yearns for something beyond material possessions, and that is one of the reasons that GNH is attracting so many people.

In an intimate evening, we will explore happiness, deep social change and wisdom with Executive Director of the Gross National Happiness Centre in Bhutan.
You will leave with a new perspective on our interconnectedness, the folly of ‘seeking’ happiness and how we can embed a values-based approach into our own communities.
Speaker: Dr Saamdu Chetri
