Event description

Description

Join us for a special one-night only event of performances and happenings with sound and light as RMIT Gallery throws opens its door until 9 pm with Experimenta Make Sense: International Triennial of Media Art.

What does it mean to be human? What if we are able to step into someone else’s shoes and live their life with just the help of VR goggles? In the current age of digital media surrounded by god-like technologies, advanced ideas are inevitable. In this exhibition, artists explore the challenges humanity faces as we grapple with the conundrum of the 'extreme present', and simultaneously confront what the future holds.

With a stellar line-up, Experimenta Make Sense brings audiences exciting artworks by more than 20 international and local artists, including Lucy McCrae (UK), Andrew Styan (AU), Liz Magic Laser (USA), Keith Armstrong (AU), and Katarina Zdjelar (Netherlands).

The immersive, interactive works delve into the concepts of language, sound, influx of data and more, actively encouraging the public to get in touch with their senses, while probing questions of the reality of the world we live in, and even in the far beyond.

Experimenta Make Sense: International Triennial of Media Art features a program of over 20 leading international and Australian artists. Both playful and challenging, this exhibition asks audiences to immerse their senses into a ‘thinking’, ‘feeling’ and ‘doing’ contemplation of what it is to be human in the digital age of technological acceleration. See the exhibition at RMIT Gallery from 2 October – 11 November 2017.or visit the website for full exhibition details www.experimenta.org/makesense
