Event description

Description

Join us for a special one-night only exhibition event as we attempt to investigate the world around us.

Both playful and thought provoking, Experimenta Makes Sense: International Triennial of Media Art asks audiences to immerse their senses into a ‘thinking’, ‘feeling’ and ‘doing’ contemplation of what it is to be human in an age of technological acceleration.

Experimenta Make Sense – Up Late will see the exhibition activated in new ways to provoke audiences to interact and connect. Engage with technology-driven art designed to activate your senses and enjoy performances from exhibiting artist Gail Priest and local electronic media artist,Matt Warren.

Gail Priest is a Sydney-based artist with a multi-faceted practice in which sound is the key material of communication and investigation. Her work spans solo electro-acoustic performance and recordings, soundtracks for dance, theatre and video, and gallery installations. www.gailpriest.net

Matt Warren is a Hobart-based electronic media artist, musician, curator, radio presenter and writer.
His practice encompasses immersive electronic installation, sound works and single channel video.

His music and sound practice has a basis in both composition and improvisation. He is interested in the results of chance combination and random actions, referencing processes and ideas of John Cage, William S. Burroughs and Brian Eno.

He records and performs live solo and with collaborative music projects and has performed as part of the Damo Suzuki Network and the Hobart Improv Collective. He also regularly produces sound works, installation and video as part of the Unconscious Collective.
