Description

Save the date! Experimenta Make Sense: International Triennial of Media Art will be opened by Professor Calum Drummond, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation and Vice-President RMIT University, on Thursday 5 October 6-8 pm.

Experimenta showcase dynamic contemporary art at the nexus of digital media, science and technology and design.

Both playful and challenging, the exhibition at RMIT Gallery (from 2 October - 11 November) will feature eight brand new works that ask audiences what it means to feel as a human in an era of technological acceleration and disembodied communications.

Become submerged inside a breaking wave, step into the shoes and eyes of a stranger using VR goggles or explore the body’s adaptions to sensory deprivation and extreme isolation in Experimenta Make Sense: International Triennial of Media Art.

A challenge for 21st century humanity is that, “we have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions and god-like technologies”, according to Harvard biologist E.O. Wilson. We humans still ‘make sense’ of our world through our physical selves and our cultures. Experimenta presents an exhibition of leading international and Australian artists who will engage directly with this conundrum.

Experimenta Make Sense: International Triennial of Media Art features a program of over 20 leading international and Australian artists. Both playful and challenging, this exhibition asks audiences to immerse their senses into a ‘thinking’, ‘feeling’ and ‘doing’ contemplation of what it is to be human in the digital age of technological acceleration. See the exhibition at RMIT Gallery from 2 October – 11 November 2017.or visit the website for full exhibition details www.experimenta.org/makesense
