Event description

Description

Exousia Publishing is hosting the book launch of Sokha Goes to School and A Visit to the King's Garden.

We will be celebrating this wonderful event with Cambodian Finger Food and Greek sweets and we invite you and your friends to come and hear where it all began - in an orphanage in Tanzania.

Children all over the world are hungry to learn about their world and the world around them. We believe the best place to start is with their own culture, their own language and their own setting. This is reflected in the books we publish, culturally relevant to them.

We will be launching two culturally relevant children's books. When you purchase a copy, another copy will be sent to the corresponding country - that means children will be receiving a free copy of the book you purchased. Help us support these children by publishing books for them which are culturally relevant and educationally appropriate.

Sophie Stokes and Sarah Findlay collaborated to produce Sokha Goes to School. Sarah spent over 12 months in Cambodia and witnessed first hand the danger children face everyday simply while walking to school.

Sophie Stokes is the author of A Visit to the King's Garden. Growing up in Greek home, there were definite roles for boys and girls and cultural expectations were strong. In this book, based on a true story, Sofia discovers her value beyond her culture.

Join us on this afternoon as we launch these two books. This is a FREE event, but spaces are limited, so we invite you to book your tickets!
