Journey through the Wilderness
an exhibition of paintings and digital pigment prints by
artist and author Lyne Marshall
I create a window to the wilderness in which the energy of the elements is contrasted with a place of stillness and peace. In a time where technology takes us further from nature I aim to provide an emotional grounding that allows us to reconnect with the land. Places however are not localities in my artworks. They are created from observing the unique and intensive presence of wilderness landscapes. This land, being vulnerable to time and the elements, offers different displays of vegetation, colours and moods throughout the seasons. Spaces are made up of the lines and forms inhabiting the land and I am often captivated by the bigger picture rather than what occupies my vision. Space can create the geographical presence of distance but at the same give a closer spiritual presence of intimacy and belonging. - Lyne Marshall
The Earth’s distances invite the eye. And as the eye reaches, so must the mind stretch to meet these new horizons. Hal Borland
