Event description
Global Victoria and Asia Society Australia invite you to a morning tea briefing with Alan Wolff, Deputy Director-General of the WTO.

About this Event

Ambassador Wolff will provide an insider's perspective on the uncertainties, risks and challenges facing the global trade order.

As the global trade order comes under pressure from the US-China trade war, technological disruption and geopolitical upheaval, the role of the global institutions becomes even more crucial in maintaining the rules-based economic order. Foremost among these institutions is the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Join us for a unique opportunity to meet the leading expert and practitioner in global trade - Alan Wolff, Deputy Director-General of the WTO.

Amb. Wolff will provide a briefing on the current issues in the global trade system, the reform of the WTO, and the role of middle powers such as Australia in safeguarding and advancing the global trade system. Amb. Wolff will also discuss what the current trade dynamics mean for Victoria, as Australia’s most globally active and trade-dependent state.

A conversation with Amb. Wolff will be facilitated by Philipp Ivanov, CEO of Asia Society Australia.

Speaker bios can be found here.
