• Excel Advanced: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM

Frequently asked questions

Is it going to be boring?

No way! We are going to be building applied examples together on our laptops, and then comparing and contrasting them amongst ourselves as we learn, network and create some great tools at the same time!

What skill level is it for?

The Basics session is great if you are not overly confident in Excel, and the Advanced session will be great if you often use Excel and want a bit more of a challenge!

What sort of things will we learn?

We're going to cover how to use Excel like a Pro! That means making tables, charts & dashboards that are flawless and easily articulate information to others! For example, we are going to use number formatting, cell formatting, borders, colours and text colours strategically to make your info pop!

Will we cover Excel functions?

We are also going to cover the most useful functions and formulas to use, so you don't get any more headaches with Excel when trying to do tricky things! We are going to take the complex ones and make them easy to learn, and take the boring ones and bring them to life with real life applications!

Who is the trainer?

I'm Campbell, a financial modeller that uses Excel everyday at work to build forecasts for companies. I've picked up a huge number of time-saving Excel techniques that will make you the Excel Pro of your office! I also wrote a book on Excel and will be ready to answer any questions you bring along!

Do I need a laptop?

Yes, bring a fully charged laptop with Excel so that we can all build the Excel mini-projects together and you can take home some great resources with you!

Where is it located?

At the Main Beach Surf Club! Just up the stairs and past the bar and restaurant! The Corporate Suite is a large room where we can all sit comfortably and use our laptops to build as we learn!

What time does it start?

The first session starts at 2:30pm and the final session starts at 8:30pm so come along to any time that suits! The Basics and Advanced classes are intermittent, and there is a Financial Modelling session to finish it off!

What if I already know how to use Excel?

This is when you will get the most value out of the Advanced session! I'm sure that there are some tips & tricks that I have learned throughout my career in Financial Modelling that will save you time and effort in the future. I'll make sure you leave with a brand new set of Excel techniques for you

My name is Campbell and I build tools in Excel for a living! I build financial models in Excel that helps businesses make better strategic decisions. I wrote 3 professional education books called “Evolve Your Excel”, “Power Up Your PowerPoint” and “Workout Your Word” to help professionals use these tools more effectively in the workplace. I passed all three CFA exams, obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from Griffith University and completed an Honours Year at UNSW. Prior to launching Desk Clarity, I worked at a Sydney-based boutique financial modelling firm, a corporate valuation firm Called Lonergan Edwards and within the BDO Brisbane Corporate Finance team.
