Description

This education session will provide health professionals the opportunity to learn about drug and alcohol treatments available in our local area and identify patients who may benefit from these services. This session provides simple measures health professionals can utilise during appointments to assist their patients.

The real time reporting system for schedule 8 drugs will also be introduced in this education session.

Audience: General Practitioners, Pharmacists, Nurses and other Health Professionals.

Guest Speakers:

Dr Geraldine Chew, General Practitioner and VMO Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services

Dr Sue Ballantyne, Senior Medical Advisor to the Medicines Regulations and Quality Unit in the Chief Health Officer Division

Learning Outcomes:

  • know how to ask patients about their alcohol and other drugs use
  • provide assistance to someone who is seeking help for their alcohol and other drugs use
  • know where to refer patients who are seeking help

Time:

6:00pm registration,
6:30pm start
8:30pm finish

Cost: Free (Value $42pp) – meal provided

This session forms an Accredited Activity under the RACGP QI&CPD Program. It will provide 2 hours of education with 4 category 2 points allocated. Activity 165402 2017-2019 triennium.
