Evacuation modelling workshop #2 - prioritising decision-maker needs
Overview
Evacuation modelling workshop #2 - confirming priority needs of decision-makers in times of community evacuation
If are an experienced Emergency Management, transport planning or land-use planning practitioner, across any type of natural hazard, we’d love to hear your thoughts on community evacuation. What works? What doesn’t? What is needed for the future?
This 2-hour workshop is the second of two workshops aimed at prioritising and confirming associated performance measures for information that addresses identified knowledge gaps that exist for decision-makers when making decisions about community evacuation. This builds on the outcomes of Workshop #1.
Evacuation modelling can be used for preparedness and response decision making.
It requires understanding people and their behaviour, what transport modes are available to evacuate, the transport routes that are available and the time available for passage to a safer location. It can help save lives through enabling emergency managers to understand challenges and make evidence-based strategic, operational and tactical decisions that promote safety.
Participants will receive a short paper that outlines Australia's baseline evacuation decision-support capability 2 weeks prior to the workshop and the draft decision-maker information requirements as developed from Workshop 1.
Places are limited. Reserve your spot now.
Workshop 2 - Confirm priority requirements and associated performance measures, Friday 17 April, 1-3 (AEDT), online
