Evacuation modelling workshop #1 - Understanding decision-maker needs
Overview
Evacuation modelling workshops - what information do decision-makers need prior to evacuating a community?
If are an experienced Emergency Management, transport planning or land-use planning practitioner, across any type of natural hazard, we’d love to hear your thoughts on community evacuation. What works? What doesn’t? What is needed for the future?
This 2-hour workshop is the first of two workshops aimed at identifying the knowledge gaps that exist for decision-makers prior to evacuation.
Evacuation modelling can be used for preparedness and response decision making.
It requires understanding people and their behaviour, what transport modes are available to evacuate, the transport routes that are available and the time available for passage to a safer location. It can help save lives through enabling emergency managers to understand challenges and make evidence-based strategic, operational and tactical decisions that promote safety.
Participants will receive a short paper that outlines Australia's baseline evacuation decision-support capability 2 weeks prior to the workshop.
Spots are limited. Reserve yours now.
