Ethics in Early Childhood – How they influence our everyday practice
Ethical decision making is a daily part of being an early childhood professional. Early Childhood Australia’s Code of Ethics, revised in 2016, is an aspirational document that supports educators to critically reflect on their pedagogy and practices. In this session, participants will be guided through unpacking the revised Code of Ethics and be supported to make sense of, and identify ways it influences the daily practices and ethical decision making around relationships with children, colleagues, families and the wider community.
Participants will have an opportunity to
- Critically reflect on their current practice in relation to the Code of Ethics
- Explore and make meaningful connections between daily practices and pedagogy and the Code of Ethics
- Discuss and identify actions that can be taken to ensure the Code of Ethics is more meaningfully embedded into practice
