Overview

Join our annual lunchtime learning webinar to gain practical insights into navigating tax procesess involved in managing a deceased estate

A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO GETTING THE RIGHT TAX ANSWERS

Due to the continued interest and positive feedback we receive each year following previous sessions presented on this topic, we are happy to offer the opportunity again this year to run a lunchtime learning session that is tailored for new lawyers, graduates and law clerks working in Wills and Estates, and perhaps those wanting a refresher. This session will be presented by both Chanmony Om , and Milana Starikov and will cover the process involved in attending to the estate's taxation affairs.

More specifically, it will provide attendees with an awareness of the issues that they need to raise with Legal Personal Representatives (LPRs) at the different stages of estate administration to ensure that tax is foremost, and not an afterthought.

Areas we will cover are:

  • How a choice of "who" applies for Probate may affect tax outcome
  • When is an income tax return required?
  • Capital gains tax on common estate assets and what valuations should be obtained
  • Who pays tax on the estate income, including key timing issues

Registrants will receive a hard copy of our 3rd edition book 'Taxation of deceased estates for estate practitioners'.
