ESR30 Course: Introduction to Sustainable Packaging
Overview
Australian Beverages Council is offering the ESR30 Introduction to Sustainable Packaging for Beverage Manufacturing training course in partnership with the Australasian Institute of Packaging.
Achieving the lowest possible environmental impact can sometimes be very challenging, particularly when balancing various environmental criteria with other functional and commercial considerations.
Sustainable Packaging ultimately ensures that the design provides the lowest possible environmental impact compared to existing or conventional packaging and also takes into consideration trade-offs and un-intentional consequences through inadequate packaging design. Costs, price sensitivities, regional-focus, competitiveness of the country are all considerations that also need be discussed.
This virtual session will cover:
- Steps to implement sustainable packaging design guidelines into primary, secondary and tertiary packaging designs
- How the design guidelines can intersect with local, regional and global packaging regulations and recycling or materials
- How to link the design principles with export market regulations and Extended Producer Responsibility regulations
- How to review existing packaging
- How to take ownership of your sustainability journey and not rely solely on suppliers
- How to use the SPG’s to make the best selection for your selection for your products and packaging
- How to develop a SPG Checklist and use this across primary, secondary and tertiary packaging
- How to communicate to customers more effectively
- What good Sustainable Packaging design really looks like through global award-winning best practice case studies and examples
All participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, points towards the globally recognised Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) designation and access to guidelines and resources that will change how they design their packaging to be more sustainable and offer a lower environmental footprint.
This training forms part of the ABCL’s Environmental Sustainability Roadmap to 2030 (ESR30) program and is being made available more broadly due to continued industry demand.
