ERA Open Days- Designed for School Leavers

 

Start your career in  Sport - Exercise - Rehabilitation  


We are inviting current year 12 students to our FREE Open Day events throughout 2017.


This is your invitation to come and chat with a number of industry experts from the fields of physiotherapy, exercise physiology and sports science to learn about what they do day-to-day and the pathways available for you to take. 

If you are wanting more information about your career options this is a not to be missed event.

Mr Adam Douglas (Strength and Conditioning Coach - AFL)

Completed his Bachelor in Applied Science at RMIT before undertaking a Masters in Exercise Science at Edith Cowan University. Obtained a Specialist Certificate in Executive Leadership at Melbourne University School of Business. Worked for 7 years with Richmond Football Club as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Adam's passion lies in strength and power prescription within a gym setting, as well as co-ordination and analysis of game day GPS tracking technology.

 

Dr Melissa Arkinstall (Sport Scientist)

Dr. Melissa Arkinstall is the leader of our sports science team that delivers specialised services in sports education, testing and coaching. Melissa completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) at RMIT University in Melbourne and has a PhD, specialising in Exercise Physiology. Melissa’s research has been presented at both a national and international level with numerous papers published in international journals of high regard.

Melissa is a key author of the VCE PE text book published by Macmillan Education Australia. Her expertise includes areas such as applied sports physiology, sports testing, and endurance training. Melissa is a member of the Advisory Board for La Trobe University’s Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Research Focus Area and also the National Accreditation Committee (NAC) for Sports Science in Australia, responsible for quality assurance adherence of sports institutes in this country. More recently, Melissa has accepted an appointment with Fitness Australia as a member of the Australian Fitness Industry Standards Council.

 

Mr Joshua Adams (Exercise Physiologist)
 

Joshua is the most recent Exercise Physiologist to join the ERA team, starting in mid-2016. Joshua completed his Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) at Victoria University and recently went on to complete his Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Deakin University. He brings to the team a broad range of clinical knowledge, with a particular interest in the management and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal and metabolic conditions.This includes experience working in hospitals, community rehabilitation centres and private practices. During his Bachelor degree, Josh was lucky enough to undertake placement at Carlton Football Club, as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Josh is a high flying member of our education and client services team and is an avid follower of the NBA competition closely followed by AFL. He is excited at being able to pass on his knowledge to ERA students and clients.

 

Ms Victoria Carroll (Strength and Conditioning Coach)
 

Tori completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) and Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) at RMIT University in Melbourne.Tori has been a member of the ERA team for more than 8 years, initially starting as a student intern with the company as she undertook her graduate degree. Tori has grown and evolved with the company, playing a significant role in established ERA as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Tori leads our Vocational Education and Training (VET) team at management level with innovation, enthusiasm and a keen business sense.

Tori has an extensive background in coaching, leadership, and strength and conditioning (ASCA member).  This is derived from her lifelong interest in competitive sport and commitment to enhancing the health, fitness and lifestyle of those around her. Tori’s sporting achievements include competing at national level swimming and state level netball in her teen years and more recently in triathlon and road/MTB cycling.
