Equipment Hire Scheme: a practical intro to photography studio equipment

By Australian Museums and Galleries Association Western Australia

Overview

AMaGA WA is launching an equipment hire program. Come along to see what we've got and how it will work.

* this is a repeat of the session held on 12 December 2025*

6 March 2026: Equipment Hire Scheme

Introducing AMaGA WA's digitisation equipment hire scheme! A generous donor has provided equipment for AMaGA WA to use in professional development and to lend to organisations unable to purchase their own equipment.

Presentation & Practical: deviating from our usual structure this session will be an interactive and practical demonstration of the equipment we will have available. We will talk through the kit and participants will be able to try their hand and ask questions.

With support from some friends (TBA) participants will also get some tips on taking "product shots" using their smartphones for creating quick social media stories or posts.

On completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the equipment needed for a studio photography digitisation project.
  • Explain the terms and conditions of AMaGA WA's Equipment Hire Scheme.
  • Identify tools and resources to assist with photography, digitisation, and smartphone product photography.
  • create a professional and quick post for social media highlighting significant items in their collection.

What you need:

  • a smartphone or tablet for photography and basic editing.
  • Questions and an open mind.

Don't have any of those documents?

Don't worry. AMaGA WA will have one or two spares.

Target audience

Whether you’re just getting started or already have advanced knowledge, this session is designed for everyone.

  • The session is capped at 15 participants due to venue restrictions.
  • Repeat sessions will be run in January.

Good to know.

A waitlist has been activated and if there is demand, we will run another session.
