Event description

Description

The Grampians Community of Practice for the Prevention of Violence against Women (GCOP-PVAW) is an initiative by Women's Health Grampians (WHG) to support the development and implementation of best-practice prevention projects in the Grampians region.

For this session, we will focus on diversity and inclusion in supporting equality for all women. Local women of diverse backgrounds including representatives from indigenous, disability, culturally and linguistically diverse, and LGBTI communities, will elaborate on the barriers they experience to feeling valued and included. Our keynote speaker, Michael Walker from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, will discuss practical strategies workplaces can adopt to support diversity and inclusion, specifically an approach called ‘Universal Design’.

Beyond improving our understanding of these topics, this session also seeks to:

  • Provide case-study examples of CoRE members promoting gender equality
  • Promote sharing of useful resources, and
  • Provide networking opportunities to meet others working in this area.

Please plan to arrive at 9:30am for the first session to commence at 10:00am

This is a forum for organisations, clubs, committees or networks in our region, who are interested in, or manage PVAW projects. If you have further enquiries regarding attendance, please contact WHG on 5322 4100.
