Event description

Description

Literally one saucy lady, Jasmin Robertson is the Director of Roza’s Gourmet, a brand that lovingly creates an extensive range of gourmet sauces and dips. Jasmin Robertson came to business success via a circuitous route. It may have seemed written in the stars when she completed a business degree at QUT (graduating with distinction and a member of the Golden Key International Academic Society), and followed this by landing a job at PriceWaterhouseCoopers as an Advisory Consultant. However Jasmin realised that she had other unexplored passions to pursue before settling down into the corporate world. She pulled up stumps in business, and went to acting school at The Actor’s Conservatory to complete her advanced diploma.

In 2011 however, it became clear that the family business, which had lain fallow since her mother passed away in 2001, would need an intense revitalisation if it was to continue. “It was the choice to restructure and build it, or let it dissipate into nothing but painful memories,” Jasmin says. Roza’s Gourmet has undergone an incredible evolution since Jasmin took the reins as director and owner seven years ago. At just 24 years of age Jasmin’s passion and determination, as well as innate business instincts, put Roza’s Gourmet in line for exceptional growth.

Roza’s Gourmet featured on BRW’s ‘Fast 100’ in 2015 and 2017 for its high growth rate. Jasmin was also listed on the Smart Money “Hot 30 Under 30” in both 2015 and 2016. In 2017, Jasmin was ranked #6 on ‘Brisbane’s Influential Entrepreneurs Top 40 Under 40’ and won in her category at the 2017 ‘Brisbane Young Entrepreneur Awards’. Jasmin Robertson.

Since 2010, business revenues have grown ten-fold, which is particularly impressive in an era where many growth stories are dominated by tech industry, not food manufacturing. With a current team of over 40 staff, and sales of over 30,000 products per week, there’s no doubt Jasmin’s role as a business leader has proved exceptional.

Guided by her mother’s legacy, Jasmin’s focus is on staying true to mum’s recipes, remaining proudly old fashioned in the company’s service and community spirit, hand selecting independent gourmet retailers to stock the products, and remaining 100% Australian made and owned. Jasmin recently spoke as one of four ‘game changing entrepreneur’ panellists sharing business lessons for Business News Australia breakfast series at Customs House in Brisbane. She also spoke at the Brisbane Museum ‘Good Food Club’ sessions entitled Brisbane’s Food Dynasties; identities that have shaped the food culture we enjoy today. In 2016,she presented to Steve Baxter’s (Shark Tank) investees about her rookie errors and lessons learned as an entrepreneur.
