Event description

Description

What we do: Settlement Services International (SSI) and their FutureAbility project are delivering this interactive one day workshop which will equip people working in the disability sector with the tools to apply a complex understanding when working with people with a disability from CALD backgrounds. Participants will identify strategies to optimise the reach and quality of disability services under the NDIS for CALD participants.

Why attend? With the NDIA estimating that 20% of eligible NDIS participants will be from a CALD background and recent data showing that people with disability from CALD communities are four times less likely to access support services, the need for a workforce with sound cross-cultural capabilities to understand the influence of culture in disability is greater than ever.

Who can attend? LAC and NDIA personnel, Government / not-for profit Disability Service Providers

Cost: Free of charge

Catering: Lunch, morning and afternoon tea included.

If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Baker via email on jbaker@ssi.org.au.
