Mr Geoff Pocock, Managing Director, HazerGroup Ltd
Geoff Pocock is an experienced strategy consultant and commercialisation professional, with over 20 years’ experience across the commercialisation process. Geoff has qualifications in Chemistry, Law and Applied Finance, and his experience has covered technical roles, executive management as well as significant corporate finance and strategy roles with a number of technology commercialisation ventures.
Geoff is the founder and currently Managing Director of Hazer Group Ltd, a chemical engineering technology company undertaking the commercialisation of the Hazer Process, a low cost and low emission process for generating hydrogen and graphite from natural gas without the carbon dioxide emissions traditionally associated with hydrogen production from hydrocarbons.
Prior to founding Hazer, Geoff was a founder and Managing Director of Dynamic Microbials Limited, an unlisted public drug discovery company working on the identification and development of novel antibiotics for specialist human health application. Geoff was a founder and was Executive Director/Managing Director of Dynamic from the Company’s inception until the Company was acquired by its parent Phylogica Ltd in an all-scrip merger in 2008.
Geoff has extensive strategy consulting and corporate advisory experience, through a number of boutique Western Australian corporate/advisory firms. He is currently a Director of Mac Equity Partners, a boutique corporate advisory and stockbroking business specialising in capital market support for technology companies, and he is also the Principal of Polaris Consulting (WA) Pty Ltd, a specialist commercialisation strategy and advisory business. He was previously a founder and director of Momentum Partners, a strategy consulting firm, where he oversaw the growth of the firm from its formation and initial operations to it becoming the largest strategy consulting firm in Western Australia with over 20 professional staff.
Geoff will discuss the growing application of hydrogen within traditional energy markets including vehicle fuels and power generation, and how the Hazer Process can address the challenges associated with this global energy market trend.
Hydrogen is increasingly being discussed as a key part of global clean energy options, as the use of hydrogen as a fuel can generate power without any carbon dioxide or other emissions. This increased use of hydrogen in the energy market will create a number of challenges, in particular the need for hydrogen production that is cost effective, energy efficient and does not generate carbon dioxide.
The Hazer Process, a novel hydrogen production technology being commercialised by Hazer Group Limited, can address these challenges. Using natural gas and iron ore, the cornerstone of Western Australia’s resources wealth, as the primary feed materials, the Hazer Process can generate low cost hydrogen without the CO2 emissions traditionally associated with existing hydrogen production processes.
