Hosted by The Ritchie Centre at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research

Women’s Health – Free Public Forum

When: Thurs October 5th, 2017 6.30-8.30 pm

Where: Museum Theatre, Melbourne Museum, 11 Nicholson Street, Carlton Victoria

What is it about?

This forum is about endometriosis and the latest research addressing some of the key issues facing women with this disorder. Join us to learn more about the cause, why it takes 7-11 years for a diagnosis, what the symptoms are, how it is diagnosed, current treatments and the current research that is addressing the key priority areas identified by world-leading endometriosis researchers.

Dr Bernie Hobbs will moderate a panel comprising a team of renowned Australian and International health professionals and women with experience of endometriosis. The Forum is proudly supported by The Ritchie Centre, Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Monash Health, Monash University and Jean Hailes.

Light refreshments will be served between 6.00-6.30 pm.

Who should attend?

  • Girls and women with endometriosis or suspected endometriosis
  • girls and women with severe pelvic pain
  • women who have been unable to get pregnant
  • girls and women with painful and/or heavy periods
  • girls who miss school because of their period pain
  • women who miss days at work because of period pain or pelvic pain at other times of their cycle
  • women for whom sex is painful
  • girls and women who have pain going to the toilet
  • girls and women with bowel or bladder troubles
  • girls and women with fatigue, and who are anxious and irritable

The Ritchie Centre at the Hudson Institute

The Ritchie Centre is a research centre based jointly within the Hudson Institute and Monash University, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The Hudson Institute of Medical Research is a NHMRC accredited, not-for-profit, independent medical research institute located in the Monash Health Translation Precinct on the Monash Medical Centre site in Victoria. Our Mission is improve the health of women and children through innovative research that informs better healthcare.
