Description

The Basement. Commonly seen as a room for the storage of junk. But for the entrepreneurs and the innovators, it’s the birthplace of incredible business ideas.

Enactus at the University of Melbourne would like to warmly welcome all students to a major event on the Enactus calendar. The Basement. In collaboration with Red Bull Australia, we bring you two days of filled with insights about the journey to business success and a workshop to further your skillset in the start-up world .

On Day One(October 2nd) , we will be fortunate enough to have industry experts such as Jericho Cleary from #CorporateAdvice introduce participants to the Lean Canvas Model and get them set on the journey to creating their own social start-up. This workshop will run through multiple aspects of the Lean Canvas Model as well as introduce you to the Red Bull Basement University program which is an incubator program that brings student teams together to drive social innovation. Successful teams will be entered into a development program where they will receive funding, decked out working spaces and international experts as mentors to help get their idea off the ground. All country winners will then be sent(flights, accommodation, catering all paid for!!) to attend the “Global Meeting” in Berlin. Here they will meet students from around the globe, learn from the best in the world and pitch their ideas to business executives from well known firms with amazing prizes to be won.

Day Two(October 4th) we have an amazing speaker- The COO of Thankyou Water. Ben Thompson will immerse you into the world of social innovation through his eyes and show that how in a world of rapidly evolving technology, they’ve used this new technology to create a world of difference. Furthermore, you will be given industry advice and knowledge into how social innovation evolved from entrepreneurial roots and now currently underpins the fabric of our society.
