Empowered Kids: Assertive Strategies for Peer Relationships and Life
Wed. 22 March 2017, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Presenter: Michael Shaw – Director, Inside Out Ed
Navigating social relationships, peer conflict and bullying can be challenging for children, and regardless of their role in the situation, children need the understanding and guidance of parents to help them navigate this difficult terrain.
It is widely understood that the most effective strategies are those that are supported at home by parents; and that developing understanding, self awareness, appropriate language and assertive behaviours early in a child’s life can make a significant difference in how they approach and manage such challenges in later years.
This presentation will cover:
How parents can positively or negatively contribute to the issue
Differences between peer conflict and bullying
Do’s and don’ts in how to respond
Importance and meaning of assertive behaviours
Teaching your child to be proactive bystander
Please note: the presentation begins at 7pm sharp.
