About this Event

The seminar will provide an overview of the legal framework in Australia that all employers should be aware of. It will then dig deeper into recent changes to the employment law landscape including Modern Awards updates and edibility criteria for JobKeeper 2.0 and explore the obligations that employers have to their employees and some of the common workplace issues which arise when these obligations are not met. It will then cover the most frequently asked questions employers have regarding employment contracts, Awards and enterprise agreements, employee entitlements, as well as minimising risk in relation to termination of employment.

About your speakers:

Gemma Wheeler-Carver – Associate, Employment Law and Commercial Litigation

Gemma Wheeler-Carver is an Associate in HHG Legal Group’s Dispute Resolution and Employment Law teams and has a particular focus on industrial relations, construction and criminal law. Gemma has experience negotiating, drafting and managing various agreements, including mining/exploration agreements, construction, consultancy and the full suite of employment agreements, and assisting with disputes related to those matters. Gemma also has experience with a range of criminal matters and provides assistance to applicants and respondents in restraining order matters.

Kimberly Jones - Lawyer, Employment Law and Commercial Law

Kimberly is a Lawyer in HHG Legal Group’s Employment and Commercial Law teams and has deep experience working within workplace relations, commercial contracting, tourism and rural law. She works closely with clients to consider and discuss the options available to them and the legal implications of these options, to guide them through the legal process. She understands that each client comes with a unique set of circumstances and has a passion for finding a solution to meet each client’s specific needs.
