Newtown local and respected 'quiet achiever of the Sydney scene' (Triple J), Emma Davis presents her full band and a sneak taste of her sophomore album.
Since releasing her self-titled debut in 2010, Emma built her own studio in a nearby furniture joinery and has spent the last year collecting sounds for her second record. Produced by Greg Walker (Paul Kelly, Holly Throsby, Machine Translations) the album sees Emma’s stirring lyrical details and intricate guitar work carefully woven with playful beats, found sounds and soft melancholic synth.
Tom Stephens has been consistently honing his songwriting craft since releasing his first EP in late 2012. In 2014, Tom Stephens released his sophomore EP ‘Embers’ which was praised for its tender portrayal of life and place and its resonant but grounded atmosphere. While not betraying the thoughtful lyricism and intimate sound displayed on Embers, What Lies in the Difference marks a maturing into a robust sound that dances between folk and alt-rock.
