Event description

Description

Red Cross invites children’s services to attend a workshop on planning for emergencies. Young children are particularly vulnerable during disasters. While children’s services are required to have and practice emergency plans and procedures, often plans are not designed to deal with the complex challenges your service might face during an emergency.

This workshop will provide you with information and tips to better prepare your organisation for emergencies. This is a unique opportunity to draw upon the expertise of emergency services and further develop your emergency management plan with agencies such as the Rural Fire Service, SES, Fire and Rescue, Police.

The workshop will address questions such as:

  • What is the role of emergency services during an event?
  • How can our service better prepare our premises?
  • How are we responsible to staff, parents and children during an event?
  • How can we communicate our plan to staff, parents and children?
  • Are there issues specific to our service type or location we should consider?

We suggest service managers and/or directors attend, in addition to a member of your management committee if possible. Staff backfill is available upon request.

Light lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day.

Bring: Your existing emergency management plan
