You are invited to attend Emerge - STEM Careers Expo. Emerge is hosted by Cicada Innovations and sponsored by UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation.

Emerge will be a creative showcase of STEM careers to inspire, support and grow the knowledge economy in Australia, and to highlight viable alternate career pathways for STEM educated students within tech startups and scaleups.


At Emerge, you will be able to:

  • Meet with Cicada Innovations' deep tech startups & check their job boards.
  • Meet Cicada Innovations' Industry Partners & check their job boards.
  • Participate in interactive advanced technology demonstrations.
  • Attend keynote sessions with tech founders and domain experts.
  • Attend informative sessions on careers and jobs of the future.
  • Check out robots, drones, Mars terraforming and Virtual Reality demonstrations.


About Emerge - STEM Careers Expo:

During the 2017 National Science and Sydney Science Festival, Cicada Innovations through sponsorship by UrbanGrowth Development Corporation, will join forces with the university and research community, industry partners and our portfolio of advanced-tech startups to celebrate science-based innovation and promote STEM jobs of the future within industries of the future.

Special guest speakers of the event include:

Dr. Stefan Hajkowicz, Senior Principal Scientist - Strategy And Foresight for Data 61 | CSIRO.

Stefan's research aims to help organisations explore plausible futures and make wise choices. His research background lies in the fields of geography, economics and decision theory. In his role he conducts original research and provides consultancy and advisory services to companies and governments. He is also one of Australia's most heavily demanded speakers for professional and public audiences on the topics of future trends and decision making.

Dr. Jay Spence, CEO & Founder of Uprise

Dr. Spence will share his unique experience as a trained clinical psychologist turned entrepreneur in his presentation: "Lessons of an academic turned entrepreneur: what I wish I knew before I started."

Uprise has received investment from muru-D as part of Telstra’s accelerator program, as well as from the University of Sydney Union's INCUBATE program. Uprise was voted 2016's Best Startup for Social Good by StartCon. Uprise was also awarded the 2016 Silver App Design Award from Design100.

Georgie Drury, Founder & CEO of Springday

Georgie combined her passion for wellbeing and her experience as a technology entrepreneur to create Springday, a company which uses a powerful online platform to deliver wellbeing activities, content and expertise to organisations and communities. Georgie’s belief in an holistic approach to wellbeing has seen Springday grow rapidly, from its small start-up in 2009 to partnering with some of Australia’s biggest brands today.
