ELEMENTAL BRISBANE MASTER-CLASS : Reclaimed tile mosaic : Jai Watts
Sat. 22 October 2016, 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm AEST
Mosaic using reclaimed tiles is both a pretty and practical craft with numerous applications within the home and garden. With tiles in a rainbow of glazes and finishes available at low or no cost, mosaic is a creative skill worth being introduced to.
Learn the basic principles of mosaic on a 200mm x 150mm house number plate. From design, cutting and shaping tiles to glueing and grouting* (time permitting) you'll have all the skills you need to take on bigger and bolder projects.
For this workshop we will work with a range of salvaged tiles. All equipment and supplies will be provided, but you are more than welcome to bring your own tiles if you like.
Reclaimed tile mosaic is part of the ELEMENTAL BRISBANE master-class series: Reverse Garbage Queensland in partnership with local artisans will highlight the many ways we can repurpose items considered to be destined for landfill.
The workshop cost includes materials, facilitator, tea and coffee and light refreshments. Suitable for ages 13 and up.
Please note workshop fees are non-refundable.
*Glue needs to dry before grouting, so if this is not possible grout will be given to take home. A grouting demonstration will be given regardless.
Lunch will be availalbe for sale onsite on the day of the workshop from Mu'ooz Eritrean Restaurant, so you can try a delicious curry or snack before the workshop if you'd like to.
