Enjoy the mindful process of stitching up a bricolage bag of your very own while engaging in conversation about sustainable living. Use hand-stitch techniques and a variety of discarded textile resources (including curtain fabric swatches) to make unique and useful bags, pouches, clutches, book covers and sewing kits. Be enriched by exploring your creative potential and learning hand-sewing skills at this upcycling workshop with slow clothing pioneer Jane Milburn. And take home a handmade bag that reflects your energy, time and place.
NOTE: A range of salvaged textiles, tools and materials will be provided. You are also welcome to bring along a basic sewing kit of scissors, needle and thread if you have them, and any textile resources you wish to repurpose. You can purchase extra textile resources from the warehouse and Jane can share hand-sewing tools and resources as needed.
Bricolage Bags is part of the ELEMENTAL BRISBANE master-class series: Reverse Garbage Queensland in partnership with local artisans will highlight the many ways we can repurpose items considered to be destined for landfill.
The workshop cost includes materials, facilitator, tea and coffee and light refreshments. Suitable for ages 13 and up.
Please note workshop fees are non-refundable.
