Course overview

For some clients receiving CHSP and Disabilty support services, their contact with others is very limited. A Meals On Wheels staff delivering food, for example, may be their main link to external contact each week. For this reason it is imperative that your staff and volunteers are able to identify the types, signs and symptoms of Elder Abuse and Disability Abuse and Neglect and know when / how to respond and report.

This workshops is ideal for both frontline staff and volunteers.

Topics covered

  • Background to Elder Abuse & Disability Abuse and Neglect
  • Identifying the types and signs of Elder Abuse and Disability Abuse and Neglect
  • The three types of detection
  • How to respond to detection of abuse and neglect?
  • Barriers to reporting and when to report abuse and whom to
  • Capacity, consent and Intervention
  • Additional resources

Who should participate?

This training is ideally suited to Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) / Disability funded direct service staff and volunteers.
