This professional learning session offers educators the opportunity to experience the exhibition, O'KEEFFE, PRESTON, COSSINGTON SMITH MAKING MODERNISM through the application of Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS). VTS is an inquiry-based approach to experiencing art through careful, close looking and questioning, empowering students to discuss art based on what they can see in an artwork.
The program will include practical VTS sessions in the galleries where participants will re-visit the key components of VTS. This will be followed by an in-depth look at the VTS curriculum which will provide insight into the power of authentic art experiences in the delivery of the Victorian curriculum.
The program will conclude with an opportunity to share your VTS experiences with colleagues and enjoy a glass of wine and some refreshments in the Heide Education Centre.
Recommended for teachers and museum educators of all year levels and subjects. You do not need specialist art training to use this strategy in the classroom.
