It has been proven that exposure to the Arts promotes growth in nearly all areas of childhood development as well as raises general test scores. This professional development day will expand upon a range of ways in which children can articulate ideas: making connections between what they think, what they make and how they move. The Arts offer an outlet for emotional expression and individual identity making. The Arts are also a significant learning area starting at Foundation levels in primary school. This program recognises that some teachers may need support to increase their confidence and competency in providing Arts experiences for their students and no experience in visual art or dance and movement is required. Work with Heide Education Manager and two experienced arts professionals’ visual artist Lucy Irvine and Yellow Dance Spot director and dancer Inbar Niv to discover how simple creative activities can extend learning relevant across multiple curriculum areas.
Recommended for primary and middle years generalist teachers.
Includes museum admission, workshop materials, lunch & refreshments from Café Vue.
Venue: Sidney Myer Education Centre
