Description

Kim Flintoff is the Learning Futures Advisor within Curtin Learning and Teaching. Kim's role involves developing innovative solutions aligned with the university’s strategic vision of teaching and learning, and coordination of the Learning Futures Network.

Thanks to the Western Australian Education Department, in this lecture Kim will look at trends and shifts that impact learning from cradle to grave, along with current projects and new insights into what’s defining the priorities moving forward.

With a special focus on the early years, the lecture will additionally delve into the capabilities needed by learners, the need for parents and educators to provide quality learning experiences, and questions that have been raised on Schooling for a Digital Culture.

Karen Wellington, Program Manager of Coder Dojo WA, will reveal ways educators and parents can encourage their child’s interests, freedom, responsibility & choice, while reflecting on the Importance of Play and strategies for families to better communicate about technology & STEM.

Completing the topic of learning futures will be Griffin Longley, CEO Nature Play WA, talking about how to embrace digital trends & STEM while balancing children & families’ screen time with outdoor nature play.

This lecture will include an interactive demonstration and a question and answer session at the end.

Network with other industry professionals and enjoy a free morning tea with the other event participants at the conclusion of the talk. Please be seated by 9:15am for a 9:30am start.
