About this event
This session enhances knowledge of dementia through virtual reality technology that allows participants to see the world through the eyes of a person living with dementia.
You will gain knowledge in:
- the perspective and needs of a person living with dementia
- effective communication
- environmental changes to support a person to live well with dementia.
Suitable for: Family carers and family members of people living with dementia. This session is not suitable for professionals employed in the health or aged care sectors.
Dementia Australia's facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and experience. This session utilises Dementia Australia's unique experiential learning technology EDIE (Educational Dementia Immersive Experience).
Dementia Australia COVID-19 session attendance:
The safety of our clients and staff is our highest priority. All Dementia Australia staff are either vaccinated or have an approved medical exemption. As such Dementia Australia has implemented the following COVID-19 safety measures for all face-to-face activities, appointments and events:
• We will continue with social distancing measures.
• We will provide hand sanitiser and ensure surfaces and other high touchpoint areas are regularly wiped down.
• If mask use is not mandatory in the location in which the service is being delivered, staff and/or clients may choose to wear a mask for extra protection.
• Individual catering packs where catering is provided.
• Individual wellbeing check on arrival including seeking vaccination status

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Dementia Australia car park: Limited car parking is available in the car park located off Glen Street, look for the reserved signs.
Street car parking: There is often all day car parking located on Glen Street and Riversdale Road on one side of the street and 2 hour car parking on the other side. Please read the signs carefully.
Public Transport:
Tram: No 70 or 75 Riversdale Road OR No 16 Glenferrie Road, Stop 32.
Train: To Glenferrie Station (Belgrave/Lilydale Line) tram or 10 min walk south along Glenferrie Road. Stop at Riversdale Road.
