About this event

Emotional CPR (eCPR) is a public health education program designed to teach people how to assist others through an emotional crisis. eCPR is based on the principles shared by a number of support approaches: trauma-informed care, personal recovery approaches, counselling after disasters, peer support, and cultural and social atonement. It was developed by a diverse cadre of leaders who themselves have learned how to recover and grow from an emotional crisis.

Ultimately, eCPR is a holistic, hopeful and empowering approach to assist people through an emotional crisis. With an emphasis on building strong, resilient and cooperative communities, this training will help you in providing help for others through three simple processes: Connecting, empowering, and Revitalizing.

C= Connecting: Connecting involves the deepening of listening skills, and creating a sense of safety and respect for person in crisis.

P=empowering: emPowering is about helping people with the finding their own power, working with them to shift away from anger and distress.

R= Revitalising: Revitalising is about helping people to identify the way forward, helping people move themselves towards their own support, and purpose.

VMIAC who are hosting this training have brought together a team of highly experienced and qualified eCPR trainers from across Australia to deliver accessible online certificate level Emotional CPR Training

This State Government funded workforce development project is free to all staff working in DHHS funded Mental Health and Alcohol and other Drug Services funded services operating within Victoria.

To access this course you must complete a registration process and be able to commit to attending all three sessions of this training which are held over separate days. prior to attending a workshop. A zoom link will be sent out closer to the dates.

We recommend where possible that participants also try to attend an Introduction to eCPR Workshop plus attend some of the monthly eCPR Community of Practice sessions which are scheduled monthly until the end of this year to assist them with ongoing development of their ecPR practices as provide a networking opportunity to link in with like-minded
