Event description

Description

Presented by Chris Ferreira and an expert architec,t this Eco-retrofit workshop is designed to empower those who are keen to create a more inspiring, comfortable and energy efficient home and garden. Here the City of Canning will launch its Build Smart Live Smart Guide.

The workshop focus will be on the latest energy efficiency gadgets and techniques, passive solar landscaping, building design, water saving techniques including grey-water systems and renewable energy systems. With a team of leading experts in a wide variety of fields this course is a must for anyone in the community keen to improve their living environment.

This workshop builds on the success of the Hami Hill Sustainable Home - WA’s only ongoing demonstration Eco retrofit home - where Chris Ferreira, his family and project partners have slashed their water use in half, dropped power bills to virtually zero and created a house and garden that works to keep the home naturally cool in summer and warm in winter.

Enquiries to sustainability@canning.wa.gov.au or contact Sustainability Officer, Kylie Wrigley on 08 6229 4435.
