Event description
Eat The Issue x Blackhearts & Sparrows

About this Event

Eat The Issue is an industry initiative started by young chef George Wintle, aiming to raise awareness and de-stigmatise mental health within the hospitality industry. By hosting regular events, we are bringing together like minded people, to discuss the way the industry views and approaches mental health related issues. We have invited a bunch of industry leaders to come and talk to guests about the steps they take to manage not only their own, but how they guide their peers toward a healthy mental environment.

Guest Speakers:

Nick Stanton - Leonardo's Pizza Palace Rosheen Kaul - Dinner By Heston Blumenthal Tim Perrin - Oakridge Wines Nina Jones - Francesca's

Eat The Issue aims to tackle the stigmas associated with mental health through conversation and enact cultural change where hospitality workers won't shy away from stepping forward.

Collaborating with boutique wine store Blackhearts and Sparrows, we are hosting a discussion based evening based around how we envision the future of how we manage mental health in the food and beverage industries. We have invited a bunch of mates from different sectors of food and beverage, to come and talk about how they see the approach of mental health changing in the future.

We're also excited to have more mates from Dexter Melbourne coming to sling some mouthwatering goodness, as well as a bunch of awesome beverages from local producers.

Please note: Due to the nature of the event, we will no be able to cater for any dietary requirements. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Scarf Community. Scarf is a social enterprise using hospitality to transform lives. Scarf trainees are resilient young people seeking protection, and those from refugee and migrant backgrounds facing barriers to employment. At Scarf Dinners, they build skills, confidence and networks through awesome training, mentoring and paid work experience.
