Early intervention impossible for spinal cord injured people in remote and...
Fri. 7 April 2017, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm ACST
The Spinal Network is facilitating a meeting in Darwin on 7 April 2017 (9am to 12pm ACST), to discuss the difficulties encountered treating acute spinal cord injuries and providing subsequent follow up services in Central and Northern Australia. Spinal cord injury (SCI) people in remote and regional Australia may achieve greater functional movement if these difficulties were overcome.
Our aim is to have as many people as possible involved in the provision of care attend the meeting to discuss the situation. This includes clinicians from the spinal unit in Adelaide, representatives from the Dept of Health in NT, politicians, community groups, paramedics and emergency, and remote medicine specialists. We plan for people to attend both face-to-face and via telecom. The NT Motor Accidents Compensation Commission has made a donation towards the cost which is greatly appreciated, but we still need to raise $10,000 to break even. The Spinal Network seeks donations towards the cost of holding this meeting - to make a tax deductible donation please click here.
