Event Details

Early Childhood Teachers maintaining accreditation at Proficient Teacher -

Network Meeting 2: Using the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers to support your professional growth.

A network meeting designed to support early childhood teachers who have NESA as their Teacher Accreditation Authority (TAA) and who are maintaining accreditation at Proficient Teacher.

Description

Using the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers to support your professional growth.

This second network meeting is for early childhood teachers who have NESA as their TAA)and who are maintaining accreditation at Proficient Teacher.

This network meeting will focus on developing an understanding of how the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (the Standards) at Proficient Teacher can support the professional growth of early childhood teachers who are maintaining accreditation at Proficient Teacher.

You will spend time discussing with your teacher colleagues your teaching practice and opportunities for professional growth. You may find it helpful to bring an example of your current professional development planning document (if you have one), or examples of professional development planning documents or systems that you like.

The network meeting is face-to-face and starts promptly at 1:00pm.

The network meeting will cover the following topics:

  • The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (the Standards) and what they look like in an early childhood context
  • Using the Standards to critically reflect on your teaching practice
  • Using the Standards to develop a plan for professional growth
  • Maintaining accreditation at Proficient Teacher

Teachers with emergent knowledge of teacher accreditation and the Standards: While not a pre-requisite, you may find it useful to attend the “What do the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers look like in an early childhood context?” network meeting prior to this meeting.

Completing this session will contribute 2 hours and 30 minutes of NESA Registered professional development (Registered PD) towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW, addressing Standard Descriptors 6.1.2 and 7.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

Refreshments:

If you think you will need refreshments during the session, feel free to bring your own drink and snack/s. Alternatively, you may choose to purchase food/drinks before or after the session at the venue (bistro/café/bar). For specific information about what food and drink options are available at the venue you should visit their website.
