Year-long Collaboration and Inquiry into Contemporary Early Childhood Pedagogy

Are you in the early years of your career as an Early Childhood Educator, looking for support and guidance as you navigate your new professional world?

Have you been teaching for a few years, but want to re-energise and re-imagine your pedagogy so it better aligns to your values and beliefs about the whole child and playful learning? 

Are you returning to teaching after some time on leave and want to re-connect with contemporary early childhood philosophy and pedagogy?

Are you working in a Kindergarten/Preschool or Early Years of Primary School setting in Adelaide or surrounds?


This Study Group is a place made just for you!


We understand how challenging it is to navigate the competing messages about learning & teaching that are thrown at teachers almost every day.

We know how hard it is to change your pedagogy, even when you really want to!

We understand the power of professional collaboration and support in building knowledge and confidence to advocate for the kind of early childhood pedagogy you believe in.

Let's face it - anyone's confidence can sometimes get a knock when your colleagues, leaders and/or families do not share your pedagogical values and beliefs.That's when we all need a place to go for support, guidance and encouragment.


We will be a community of like-minded early childhood educators who will explore contemporary pedagogical practices and learning theory, but always with an eye to the application in YOUR context so you will feel empowered to act. 

The Early Childhood Study Group is about educators supporting educators, not so much a series of workshops, although there will be workshop-style components if required. 


The Early Childhood Study Group has two modes of professional learning:

1. Saturday Sessions - 1 each Term 9:30am - 12:30pm. Venue: Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Brompton.

Term 1: Saturday 25 February (end of week 4, to give you a chance to build relationships with your children).

Term 2: Saturday 6 May (end of Week 1)

Term 3: Saturday 29 July (end of Week 1)

Term 4: Saturday 21 October (end of Week 1)

2. Private FaceBook Group 

Moderated by the team at Lisa Burman Consultants. This Private Group is only open to members of the Study Group and is an online community forum where you can ask questions, share your celebrations and struggles and seek support and advice. 


The Early Childhood Study Group will provide 30 hours of professional learning, even if you only access the FB page once a week. (This equates to less than $15 per hour for quality, personalised professional learning).

A certificate of participation, aligned to Australian Teaching Standards, will be issued at the final Saturday Session.

Please note: payment is strictly by credit card only (via Evenbrite). Manual invoicing is not available.

Dannielle Gibson

Dannielle Gibson leads a community of early childhood educators and is also Co-President of EChO. She was honoured to represent EChO at the Partners table of the recent Rinaldi Residency - Re-imagining Childhood in Adelaide, where she had the opportunity to work closely with Carla Rinaldi from Reggio Emilia. Dannielle is passionate about creating learning environments and experiences that offer all children the opportunity to shine. She believes that in working with the competent child, educators also work from a competent view of the parent in order to truly collaborate.
