Event description

Description

EVENT UPDATE: Our School has just received advice from Dr Sheppard that, due to illness, she will be unable to personally deliver the DDS workshops we have scheduled for January/February next year.

This is certainly disappointing news, however we are pleased to advise that Professor Susan Balandin and Professor Bronwyn Hemsley will be able to deliver the workshops, including the certification workshop (as designed by Dr Sheppard) as planned. Both Professors Balandin and Hemsley have worked closely with Dr Sheppard over the years delivering these workshops, and both women are highly experienced in dysphagia disorders.

Dr Justine Joan Sheppard is a Fellow of ASHA and a Board Certified Specialist in swallowing and swallowing disorders. She is an Honorary Adjunct Associate Professor in the Communication and Communication Disorders program, Department of Biobehavioral Sciences at Teachers College, Columbia University, and has presented many training workshops in the USA, Canada, Australia New Zealand Singapore and Europe.

Over 3 days, Professor Susan Balandin and Professor Bronwyn Hemsley will present Joan's certification workshop in dysphagia screening and assessment tools (DDS, DMSS, CRA and PRA), in addition to two other specialist workshops, Understanding and Improving Swallowing and Feeding Function in Children and Adults with I/DD: Transition feeding to safe, mature skills and Understanding and Treating Swallowing and Feeding Disorder in Children with Cerebral Palsy.
