Session 2 (6:10-7:10pm): NCC Volume 2 “Residential” Energy efficiency update for 2020 & Understanding Building Zones

Presenter: Giuliano Zanus

Overview

As the push for more sustainable and energy efficient homes increases, we are now more than ever needing to have a greater understanding of how sustainable design works in homes. The updated NCC brings with it a change to the energy rating procedure that will possibly have implications on some new home designs in terms of compliance. This presentation is designed to educate you on the changes to the NCC and how it impacts dwellings, increase your knowledge of sustainable design practices as well as give you an understanding of how a residential building is zoned for a thermal performance assessment.

Learning Outcomes

After this presentation, participants will have a better understanding of:

  • The changes to the Residential Energy Efficiency Update for the 2019 NCC and when the legislation comes in.
  • How a residential building is "Zoned" for the purposes of an energy rating.
  • The best time to engage a thermal performance assessor.
