About this event

DRUMBEAT Trainers and event staff have completed COVID Safe Training Certificates and are COVID double vaccinated.

All DRUMBEAT Training events are compliant with COVID Safety measures and are considered low-risk events.

The djembe drums used for training are sanitised, prior to training and daily after training has finished.

All attendees are required to practice hand hygiene, physical distancing and respiratory etiquette. Hand sanitiser will be available.

If you are unwell or have recently been in contact with a positive COVID-19 patient we ask that you do not attend.

Over the 2 day experiential workshop, you will:

  • Learn basic hand drumming techniques (no prior experience necessary)
  • Practice program foundations including mastering layered rhythms, facilitating fun drumming games and engaging discussions
  • Explore group facilitation strategies to maintain a safe and inclusive space for all participants
  • Learn how to evaluate your program delivery using an action research approach and report on outcomes

It is a fun, intensive and practical professional development. On completion you will be provisionally accredited to begin delivering the DRUMBEAT program right away. 

*Holyoake is the only authorised training and accreditation body of the DRUMBEAT program.

Who is the Facilitator training for?

The therapeutic benefits of drumming for physical and mental health are needed now more than ever.

Professionals working with vulnerable populations will gain the most from the DRUMBEAT Facilitator Training. The DRUMBEAT program is a very beneficial intervention for you if your role includes working with people to support their wellbeing, improve social and coping skills and change behaviour.

Participants come from a wide range of sectors across the Education and Community Services industry that include counselling services, mental health services, alcohol and other drug services, out-of-home-care services, hospitals, aged care services, services supporting serving and ex-service men and women and their families, refugee and migrant services, disability services, justice and correction services, primary schools, high schools, special schools and school focused services.

What resources are provided at the training?

You will receive a DRUMBEAT Program Manual to take home. A djembe (drum) will also be provided for the training. Once you have completed the full training and gained provisional accreditation you will also receive additional materials and resources to support you in your program delivery. 

Do I need to bring anything to the training?

Bring a pen, water bottle and we’ll provide the rest. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing, jeans or trousers to drum in.

Will I be required to participate in all practical activities?

Come prepared to have fun. This is an experiential, hands-on training, and active participation is encouraged. It's also beneficial to develop your skills and gain experience. Check out our Facebook Page for videos of the training in action!

Will meals be provided at the training?

Morning tea and lunch are provided each day. We try our best to accommodate special dietary requirements, please check with us if you have concerns. 

What payment options do you offer?

You may choose to pay as an individual or as a business. When registering you will have the option to pay online by credit card OR pay later by invoice. If you select ‘Pay by invoice’, you may pay by EFT or by credit card over the phone. You will receive a tax invoice as an attachment with the confirmation email. Payment must be made in full prior to the start of the training – please reference the invoice number.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that unforeseen events may occur that prevent you from attending and we try to be as flexible as possible. If you are unable to attend after registering for a training you must notify us in writing. Refunds will not be given for ‘No Shows’, including being unable to attend due to illness, personal or work issues. Please contact us via email drumbeatservices@holyoake.org.au. 

Holyoake reserves the right to:

  • Cancel or change the scheduled dates for any training where minimum registration numbers are not reached
  • Change the location of the training
  • Substitute trainers

COVID Cancellations:

In the event of the training being cancelled due to COVID restrictions, Holyoake offers a fee-free transfer to another Perth training, within a 12 months period, a fee free transfer to Online Training or a refund of the original training fee.
