Event description

Description

Please book tickets for both dates to confirm attendance at both days of the workshop.
Duration: 2 day workshop - 2 hours per day
Cost: FREE
Limited Places Available
Ages 12 to 17

Unlike traditional mask work in acting, this workshop will involve participants in creating their own mask using arts and crafts materials, then work to embody and develop a character using the visual of the mask. The second day will then explore these characters further interacting with other characters through improvisation, completing with a short acting scene.

This is great first step for anyone who has never done acting before, for those who love acting but need a little bit more confidence or those who are experienced performers and actors and want to explore how the visual aspects of mask to create new characters and push their range!

This workshop is facilitated by Mariah O'Dea. Mariah graduated from WAAPA's Bachelor of Performing Arts in 2015. She primarily works as a children's puppeteer for Camp Quality and Constable Care. She is also an art therapy student, sometimes swimming teacher and a performer. She is currently working on a self-devised comedic skit, short movement piece for Fringe and featuring in a film with Inklight Cinema called The Light. She is most passionate about how creativity can help people.

Once your ticket has been processed we will email you a registration form that must be returned to YMCA HQ prior to the activity by email or post.
