Event description
The world is waking up to one of the biggest threats to our planet.

About this Event

Nearly all the plastic that has ever been made still exists and most of it is now floating in our seas and oceans. Leading scientists are frantically trying to understand the problem. Other natural disasters have had decades of intensive research; but research into the effects of plastic waste on marine life began in earnest only five years ago.

Its paramount that we urgently understand the scale of the problem and find a solution before the life in our oceans is irreparably damaged forever. In this timely and vital documentary, biologist Liz Bonin sets out on a global mission to reveal the full scale of the world’s plastic problem – and explore inspiring people and innovations that might hold the potential to remedy this environmental disaster.

From a remote island off the coast of Australia, to America. From the Coral Triangle stretching between Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, to the rivers of Indonesia - Liz chases plastic around the world and reveals a crisis far greater than we’d ever imagined.

CHOCOLATE TASTING with BENNETTO

Sourced in the heart of the South American cocoa producing areas of either Peru or Ecuador, the beans form Bennetto chocolate are carefully cultivated by small scale farming groups who champion gender equality, young farmer training and reforestation in the Amazon. Bennetto then partners with a Swiss chocolate maker who offsets all CO2 produced by planting additional timber trees in the area.

The native birds of South America, gracing the recyclable packaging are to remind people there is delicate ecosystem that lies behind every chocolate bar.
