Learn how to Build, Configure and Fly the Latest Innovative Racing Drones

About this Event

Monday 13th to Thursday 16th January

Time and Venues vary (See Below)

Strap yourself in for the 2020 Summer Drone Camp, an awesome holiday program where you’ll learn to build, fly and race an FPV drone over 4 days.

We have delivered this program to over 120 participants over the past 12 months. We aim to make this year workshop the biggest and best with a more action-packed lineup of events. The best part is, no prior knowledge is necessary and all drone racing equipment will be provided throughout the event.

With support from Major Drone Racing Companies, Noosa Shire Council and even the Australian Defence Force, you are guaranteed to have a great time.

FPV Drone Racing is one of the fastest rising sports in the world and allows pilots to experience an amazing sense of flying. FPV or “First Person View” drones are flown at high speed around obstacle courses, giving pilots the sensation of being at the controls of a stunt aircraft.

Getting to grips with FPV drones is an ideal introduction to the computer science and engineering principles that underpin robotics and unmanned vehicles. Drone Camp is a great way to have fun, develop valuable new skills and get inspired by the possibilities of new technology.

Late 2018 Drone Camp delivered the first workshop to students from 10 different schools on the Sunshine Coast. This program was the first of its kind and had great success with everyone successfully racing on the final day.

Early 2019 the second Drone Camp workshop was offered to the general public with an outstanding response. The Australian Army and Australian Army Drone Racing team got onboard and help facilitate the first-day where we looked at real-life applications of this emerging technology. Overall, the program was once again very successful with great competition and all 16 participants taking away valuable skills.

This program will be teaching anyone above the age of 13 the skills behind FPV Drone Racing and immerse them in the amazing world of drones. Participants will test their knowledge and flying skills by competing head to head to win fantastic prizes. This program will be delivered by Connor Middleton, an avid innovator and FPV Drone Racing Pilot and Eamon Kriz, a licensed CASA RPA Pilot who has been operating his Aerial Cinematography business since early 2017.

Structure of Program:

Monday 13th of Jan 10 am – 12 pm
