Description

Join us for a weekend of personal and professional learning that inspires and challenges you to develop HASS and Visual Arts skills through our unique heritage, our stories, our places and our artworks.

  • Develop your artistic skills;

  • Explore the heritage of Perth;

  • Interpret through HASS and the Arts;

  • Plan a program for your students;

  • Be inspired to inspire with the stories and design that surround us.


When: Saturday 1 April and Sunday 2 April 2017 from 9am – 3.30pm

Where: Various heritage venues – meet at the State Library of WA, Francis Street entrance

Who: Target Audience: primary and lower secondary teachers years 2 – 8

Cost: $150 (Inc GST) per head includes coffee/tea; yummy lunches; entry fees and all materials


Presenters/Facilitators

  • Lisa Young – Art Gallery Western Australia

  • James Foley – Illustrator

  • Marie McNeil and Stephanie Neil – St Mary’s Anglican School for Girls

  • Mike Lefroy – Duyfken Foundation

During this weekend workshop you will:

  • Develop Arts drawing skills and HASS knowledge and skills to inspire your students

  • Explore known and unknown heritage places, stories and artworks of the City of Perth, through History, Geography and Civics and Citizenship

  • Consider how Perth has changed, and remained the same and interpret your ideas

  • Discover how to keep and use a visual journal – for yourself and your students

  • Plan a program that integrates HASS with Visual Arts at an appropriate age and ability level

  • Be treated to spectacular lunches at two of Perth’s great heritage eating places


Wear comfortable shoes for walking, a hat, sunscreen and a bag for your resources/materials!
