This interactive seminar will cover the art of drafting effective affidavits for various litigious scenarios.
Issues with form and admissibility will be addressed together with common tips and traps including for example how best to work with deponents and interpreters.
Participants will have the opportunity of comparing prepared examples with different styles and also working on a draft affidavit during the session and receiving constructive feedback on technique.


About the presenter:

Dr Elisabeth Peden has a general commercial practice at the NSW bar. She is a nationally accredited mediator and expert witness on Australian contract law in international litigation. She is the editor of the New South Wales Law Reports, the Commercial Law Quarterly and on the editorial board of the Journal of Contract Law. She has been elected as a fellow of the Australian Academy of Law (http://www.academyoflaw.org.au/). She is a Professor at the University of Sydney (see egt http://sydney.edu.au/law/about/people/profiles/elisabeth.peden.php.) She completed her BA (1st Class Hons) and LLB (1st Class Hons; University Medal) at the University of Sydney. She was a Tapp Scholar and Ivan Roberts Scholar at Gonville and Caius College, University of Cambridge, where she completed her PhD on implied terms in contract law. She was a consultant to a large international law firm for four years, while an academic, before being called to the bar.
