This year’s Dookie Day will focus on our past, present and future through the theme, Planting seeds today for tomorrow.


The day will allow you to explore a future of sustainable agricultural growth and connect with Indigenous history and culture through themed precincts, family friendly activities, industry expert talks and educational demonstrations.

THINGS TO DO

Come and see how your body reacts to thermal sensory imaging and view drone technology and flying demonstrations.

Virtual reality
Explore Dookie sheep farming to see what happens throughout the year via a virtual reality farm tour through time.

Mutton Tasting
Taste mutton patties that have been freshly grilled and processed to enhance different flavour characteristics and learn what changes lead to different qualities.

Butter Making
Make sure you get everyone involved to produce your very own butter! Hot tip; it spreads beautifully on our Dookie bread which can be found in our Hungry Harvest precinct.

Robotic Dairy Farm Tour
Discover how the Dookie robotic dairy farm operates, start to finish!

Glass house and polytunnel tours
Discover the beneficial growing environment within the new glasshouses and polytunnel. Tours will explore the research behind these methods and discoveries.

Microwave Weedkiller Demonstrations
Learn how to grow microgreens and discover a different way to kill already emerged and herbicide-resistant weeds and seeds in the soil with an innovative microwave treatment.

Clay Turtle-making Workshop
Learn how to make a clay turtle with local artists and to discover indigenous links.

Jewellery-making Workshop
Learn how to make traditional jewellery.

Fishing and Bird Net Weaving
Learn how to create traditional woven products.

Story Time
Have a yarn with the Wilin team and hear more about the importance of Country, possum skin cloak-making and emu feather skirt-making.

SIGNS AND SYMBOLS WORKSHOP
Learn how to read a story told using ancient Aboriginal signs and symbols and create your own story piece.

Discover how words can express the significance of Country.

EXPERT PANEL DISCUSSION
Join Dr Sara Hely as she midrates an expert panel discussion on Agriculture Victoria’s on-farm ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) trial – the benefits, the barriers and the execution.
This trial involves the installation of IoT technology across four regional areas and four industry sectors to drive change and propel Victoria to world leadership in food and fibre production. University, state government and industry representatives talk about Victoria's bold vision and two-year trial program.
