Don Watson - A Civil Servant Exhibition Guided Tours
Event Information
Description
Join Donald Watson for a special, one-hour guided tour of the exhibition ‘Donald Watson: A Civil Servant’! This exhibition, which was curated by Janina Gosseye, Douglas Neale and Alice Hampson, focuses on the work of Watson himself; a talented and prolific architect who has made a remarkable contribution to Australian architecture culture through his historical research and writings, and his exemplary built works, most of which were designed while ‘a civil servant’ in the Queensland Department of Public Works. Witty and wise, Watson's designs represent some of the finest examples of postmodernism in Queensland. And yet, while highly decorated, most of his projects remain unknown. The exhibition accordingly sheds light on some of Queensland’s little known architectural treasures, and during the tour, Watson will tell some of the stories behind the buildings.
